Some retail and services will re-open today

Shire Hall and the Picton fire hall will re-open today, among retail businesses, health and community service providers permitted by the province to open, or, expand services Tuesday, May 19.

The municipal offices will be open between 8:30 am and 3 pm, Monday to Friday with limited services available.

The municipality is asking residents to make only essential visits to Shire Hall and the Picton fire hall. The public can pay a variety of bills, access services, and buy burn permits online without having to visit a municipal office.

All other municipal offices, arenas, museums, and town halls remain closed to the public at this time under provincial order.

Also allowed to open today are retail services that are not in shopping malls and have separate street-front entrances and with measures in place that can enable physical distancing. Dog groomers, animal services and veterinary appointments are able to resume as are indoor and outdoor household services such as housekeepers, cooks, cleaning and maintenance.

On Saturday, May 16, golf courses, marinas, boat clubs and launches were allowed o open, as were private parks and campgrounds for those with a full season contract, stationary seasonal homes that have electric and water services.

Today, the government is expected to make an announcement on whether to re-open schools before the end of June, amid other avenues for learning.
