Spirits bright as Wellings Backs the Build

Spirits were bright at the Wellings of Picton Friday, Dec. 13 as a group of residents presented the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation with a holiday gift of $4,048.15. The funds were raised at the Wellings’ third annual Making Spirits Bright Christmas Bazaar held November 23 in the Wellings atrium.

The gift will be used to help lift the spirits of the Back the Build Campaign, as the residents look forward to the building of a new hospital for Prince Edward County.

In the three years the Wellings of Picton has hosted this event, $8,285.35 has been raised for PECM Hospital with $7,348.90 designated to help Back the Build.

There were 21 vendors who sold their wares and more than 500 people attending to enjoy the artisan goods, bake sale, silent auction and ‘white elephant’ tables.
Rachel Henry, general manager, on behalf of the staff at the Wellings thanked the community for attending and extended heartfelt thanks to the residents who helped organize the festive fundraiser.

“We are so pleased that each year we see more and more people come out to enjoy, get started on their Christmas shopping to not only support local artisans and vendors, but to raise money for our hospital. Everyone involved works really hard and really enjoys being a part of our bazaar,” said Henry.

“The residents group that came together from the Wellings to make this gift in support of our Back the Build campaign speaks to the importance of community involvement and the impact that it has on the quality of life for those residing and visiting our County,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “We are so grateful for the support shown to us by the residents living at the Wellings of Picton and their keen interest in the future of our hospital.”

The Wellings of Picton encourages everyone in our community to consider joining the powerful community of supporters dedicated to supporting the County’s hospital.
