CHEERS! from the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Wellington which once again stepped up to support the foundation’s Back the Build campaign for a new hospital in the County.

Jan Davey and Marg Stanford, members of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church presented Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign co-chair and Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation with $3,000 on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

“We are privileged to be in a position to be able to make this gift to our new hospital which when complete will be a foundational benefit and lasting legacy to future generations and improve the health and lives of everyone in our community.” said Davey, a senior leadership member of the church.

St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is the central gathering point for the Parish of Kente.

The donation came as a result of interest earned from the church’s endowment fund. It is through this fund that the church is able to support worthy causes in the community.

Because the church did not host its annual golf tournament this year due to COVID-19, the membership wanted to continue with a donation to the new hospital campaign as the hospital is a facility the entire community depends on.

“It is by coming together as a community that we will reach our goal of building a new hospital in the County,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “This donation from St. Andrew’s Anglican Church is another excellent example of the team effort under way across Prince Edward County to help get this hospital built.”

In 2018, the St. Andrew’s gave $3,500 to the new build and in 2019, $3,500 was designated to the campaign from their 11th annual golf tournament. This gift brings St. Andrew’s cumulative giving to $10,097 and earns St. Andrew’s a spot on the PECMHF donor wall at the Patron level for donations over $10,000.

The PECMH Foundation’s Back the Build campaign aims to raise $16.5M for Quinte Health Care’s new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital over the next five years.

Coull, acknowledges that while $16.5M is an ambitious goal, fundraising is well under way. The campaign cabinet is in place and actively seeking donations.

To date, the foundation has raised $14.7 million of its $16.5 million fundraising goal, which is an outstanding testament to the community and municipal support received so far.
