The Stanley Cup will be at the National Air Force Museum of Canada CFB Trenton on Thursday, July 18 from 1-2 p.m.
Chicago Black Hawk Andrew Shaw, a native of Belleville, will bring the cup for the public viewing. Shaw played for the Quinte Red Devils in 2006-2007 and joined the Blackhawks in 2011. He earned fame during the playoffs this year when he scored to end an epic 3-OT in game 1 and took a puck to the face in game six against the Boston Bruins.
Based on his own recollections of playing at the RCAF Arena at CFB Trenton, Shaw wanted to include the base and Quinte West in his program for the day and provide the local residents an opportunity to see the cup.
“The Shaw family has graciously offered to visit our community with the Stanley Cup and we are honoured to host them,” said 8 Wing Commander Colonel Sean Friday.
Because of time constraints, there will no autograph-signing; however, people can have a chance to view the Stanley Cup and take pictures while it is on public display at the NAFMC.
