A surprise “generous grant” from the Bronskill Fund and The County Foundation will directly support ongoing operations by the County’s South Shore Joint Initiative (SSJI).

“This vital contribution helps SSJI ‘keep the lights on’ and continue its work protecting and
celebrating the natural and cultural heritage of Prince Edward County’s rare and fragile South Shore,” said Cheryl Anderson SSJI President.

“This surprise gift is significant to us. Operational funding is often the hardest to secure, yet it is the backbone of everything we do. Thanks to the Bronskill Fund and The County Foundation, we can continue to sustain our programs, support our volunteers, and ensure our community has
a strong voice in protecting the South Shore.”

The Bronskill Fund is a donor-advised fund administered by The County Foundation. Unlike traditional grants, donor-advised funds are directed to organizations that hold special meaning for the donors, with no application process required.

This model allows donors to make an immediate impact on causes close to their hearts.

“We are proud to support the important work of South Shore Joint Initiative,” said Gillian Armstrong, Interim Executive Director at The County Foundation. “The Bronskill Fund was established to empower organizations that matter deeply to our donors, and SSJI’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community engagement is a perfect example of that vision. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of this grant.”

Founded in 2018, the South Shore Joint Initiative currently includes local, provincial and national partners. They include: Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County, Birds Canada, Hastings Prince Edward County Land Trust, Kingston Field Naturalists, Nature Canada, Ontario Nature, Prince Edward County Field Naturalists, Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, Quinte Field Naturalists
