To the Class of 2020:
Congratulations on graduating from Grade 12, a tremendous accomplishment for each of you! Learning requires that we find meaning in all we do—in the successes, the challenges and the struggles—and then grow from them.
As a graduating class, you have lived through times that no graduating class in a generation has experienced. You have been successful in the face of adversity. The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us all important life lessons. Firstly, be prepared for the road to shift beneath your feet. Keep moving and risk falling, while having the courage to get back up.
Secondly, harness resilience in pursuit of your dreams, even when it means treading on new ground or changing direction. Although your path may be redirected, it is you who determines the destination. Lastly, keep an open mind. Realize that challenge and adversity are your friends when you are prepared to learn, grow, and follow you dreams. Congratulations on persevering to reach this remarkable milestone in your life!
– Andrew Ross, Principal, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute
Let us celebrate you, your success, your character attributes and your resilience. Be brave, be bold, be filled with visions of greatness, and know that you have the skills, abilities and allies needed to make your dreams come true.
– Jennifer Cobb and Alison Kelly, HPEDSB trustees for Prince Edward County
