Theodore Too in the County, but public visits not possible until next year

Those with a view of Picton Bay may spot celebrity tug Theodore Too, modeled after the namesake of the Theodore Tugboat children’s television series, tomorrow.
Theodore – with its distinct face and red cap, is expected to pull up to dock at Picton Terminals enroute to other ports along the way back to its home in Hamilton.
Sandy Berg, project manager at Picton Terminals, notes public visits will not be possible on this stop.
“We tried to accommodate the public during this voyage but with COVID protocols, etc., it was simply too challenging this voyage to open Picton Terminals to the public,” she said. However, “we intend to host Theodore at Picton Terminals in 2023 for public visits… and also resume open houses and tours.”
Theo and crew help educate children about the marine industry and the importance of water infrastructure in Canada and the U.S. The tug also partners with the charity group Swim Drink Fish which advocates for keeping the Great Lakes and all waterways clean for swimming, fishing and drinking.
The tug was based in Halifax for many years before making the move to Hamilton Harbour last year.
