The Prestige Construction Midget Kings are having a tough start to their season with a 0-3-1 record heading into the PECMHA “RECHARGE WITH MILK” Tournament this weekend. Last Thursday night in Wellington they hosted the Ennismore Eagles and came out on the short end of a 3-1 final. The visitors scored twice in the second period and added another in the third frame before the Seth VanVlack put away a nice feed from Ben Wilson and Jake Staley with under two minutes left in the match. Brad Wells did a good job in the Kings cage to keep things close as the home squad was badly out-shot in the contest.
On Sunday afternoon the Kings were back in action as Loyalist made the trip to Wellington. In a replay of the previous game, the Kings got in a big hole by allowing the visitors to score three times before they could get on the board. This time it was Brad Reid putting it in off a scramble in front of the Jets net at 6:17 of the third period. Staley and Wilson drew the assists on the goal but that was all the offence the Kings could muster as the game ended in another 3-1 loss. Alex Ward did duty in the Kings net.
The Midgets will face the Jets again on Friday night at 8 in game one of the tournament. Game two will be at 9 on Saturday night versus Blyth-Brussells, while game three is scheduled for Sunday morning at 11:45 against Mt. Brydges. All of the Kings’ games are in Wellington.
