Update on County boat launches

The County of Prince Edward has provided an update on County’s boat launches and docks affected by this spring’s high water levels.

The following boat launches and docks are now open:
· Glendon Green Launch (off County Road 18)
· Prinyer’s Cove Launch (County Road 7)
· Big Island
· Wellington Beach Launch (Beach Street)
· Belleville Street Launch (Wellington)

The following launches are open, but the docks remained closed due to damage from prolonged high water levels:
· Northport Launch (Centennial Park, County Road 15)
· Rossmore Launch (Ridley Street)

The following launches and docks are open; however, high water levels hinder full access to the docks:
· Weller’s Bay Launch (Edward Drive)
· Mabel Kleinsteuber Launch (County Road 12)
Though the boat launches are open, the County is urging boaters to proceed with caution and good judgement. Floating and submerged debris could still pose a risk to boaters. Furthermore, rocks that would normally be visible could be just below the surface because of the high water levels.

High water levels are still impacting many properties. Boaters are asked to reduce speed in order to minimize wake and avoid causing further damage and erosion to shorelines.

The boat launch at Wellington Beach will be closed for the duration of the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival Saturday, Aug. 12. Boaters are to use the Belleville Street boat launch.
