Waste water systems and watermains will be flushed and hydrants serviced in various areas of the County over the next few weeks.
Work will be carried out nightly from Monday to Thursday. Crews started in Wellington on Monday. Main Street and all major side streets will be flushed throughout the nights in an effort to limit traffic congestion.
Flushing will then continue on Picton’s Main Street (with the exception of the construction zone) and all major side streets will be flushed.
Tuesday, watermains and hydrants will be serviced within Consecon/Carrying Place in the areas of Old Portage Road, Taft Road, Hanthorn Street, County Road 64, County Road 3 from Taft Road to Loyalist Parkway, Loyalist Parkway between Old Portage Road and Blakely Road and Elizabeth Road.
While flushing is taking place, it is recommended residents avoid excessive water use e.g.: running tap water for extended periods or using the washing machine and dish washer simultaneously.
Residents and businesses in the immediate areas may experience intermittent pressure fluctuations and some discolouration of tap water while flushing is being completed.
Once flushing is complete, run the cold water tap closest to the water meter for a few minutes until tap water runs clear. Wait until the water runs clear at the tap before doing laundry or running the dishwasher.
