UPDATE MAY 28: Wellington beach is now declared safe for swimming.
MAY 21: Hastings Prince Edward Public Health (HPEPH) has declared Wellington Beach unsafe for swimming.
HPEPH operates a Beach Monitoring Program to test bathing waters at designated public beaches each spring/summer.
HPEPH is monitoring water quality and posting designated beaches if water has tested at unsafe levels – regardless of potential COVID-19 gathering restrictions.
Beach goers can also find the status of recent water testing by visiting the Public Beach Reports section at hpePublicHealth.ca, where updated beach reports will be posted on the Friday of each week.
HPEPH considers beaches to be outdoor recreational amenities which may open as early as Saturday, May 22. However, acceptable beach access will be determined by Ontario Parks and local municipalities, and may vary.

It is discouraging to witness poor pet ownership behaviour however it is encouraging that most pet owners/walkers are responsible and compliant regarding pet waste. We need to address it when we witness it and politely ask the pet owner/walker to please pick up waste otherwise the few that fail to be responsible keep on being that.
This particular beach often has high levels of e-coli. Makes me scatch my head as to why it is so popular.
