Wellington golfers braved the elements Saturday to compete in a golf tournament to raise money for the village’s new community centre.
The 24 golfers, as well as seven members of the public, came out to win a quarter of corn-fed beef, provided by Baitley’s Farm, Wellington.
“It’s been a great day,” said Jim Dunlop, coordinator for the fund raising. “Great to see all the people out to support a good cause.”
Each member of the public bought a brick for the new community centre for $100 and the chance of winning. They were allowed two putts, highest total points was 15, scored by Betty Wakefield, Picton. Her cut and wrapped beef will be delivered in September.
The other quarter winners were Don Stanton, Erin Traer and Lisa Lindsay.
