CHEERS! to Andrea Heuving and Marlayna Church – recipients of $1,500 Willi Fida Culinary Bursaries.
The Willi Fida Culinary Bursary was established by friends and family of the late chef Willi Fida, to honour his many contributions to Prince Edward County’s culinary scene.
Andrea Heuving spent the summer working at East on Main in Wellington, and is pursuing her second year of culinary studies at Fleming College in Peterborough. Marlayna Church has been working at the Waring House, and is entering her first year at Loyalist College’s Culinary Skills program. Both women were part of PECI’s gold-medal winning 2010 Iron Chef team.
About 50 guests attending the bursary announcement last week at Angelines contributed $3,000 toward the bursary fund which is administered by the County Community Foundation.
