William’s love for Kate etched in stone

William’s love for Kate has been etched in stone and his love for his new princess continues to bloom.
During Sunday’s Appreciation Day activities at Glenwood Cemetery, guests witnessed the dedication of a monument to Kate the swan goose who was killed in the spring. The words on the stone read: “Thanks for the Memories, Kate”.
William and Kate had lived at the pond at Glenwood Cemetery for the past 15 years. The two were donated as a gift and later named after Britain’s royal couple.
William had stopped eating and continued to cry out for Kate, until a new princess arrived from the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre in Napanee. The new Kate, too, lost the love of her life last last year, to a hungry fox.
William, a grey swan goose, was smitten at first honk, strutted around her and let her out into the pond for a tour.
They are still very happy, said Sandra Latchford, cemetery board chairman.
