Remember the winters of years gone by and warm up with good company, conversation, music, art and photography.
St. Andrew’s in Picton will launch its seasonal art show, ‘Winter Kept Us Warm’, Sunday, Jan 11 from 2-4 p.m. with live music, story telling and a slide show featuring winter images from County photographer Phil Norton.
“There will also be further opportunity to wax nostalgically about how we never got driven to school and couldn’t wait to connect with friends on outdoor rinks, frozen ponds and around bonfires,” said Lynne Donovan. “Show up in your favourite hockey shirt (for a reading of The Hockey Sweater, by Rick Zimmerman) or pull up on a snowmobile.”
The artwork of Jeanne Campbell, Wellington Lambert, Barb Hogenaurer, Terry Culbert and Claudia Jean McCabe will be featured. The afternoon will include live music by Wellington Lambert, Micheline Cox, Tom Dietzel & Mark Despault, the reading of The Hockey Sweater by actor Rick Zimmerman as well as Rick’s rendition of Stompin’ Tom’s The Good Ole Hockey Game and winter scenes by County photographer Phil Norton. Plenty of comfort food and drink will be served.
Below, some recent images from Phil Norton, who leads local photographers and nature-lovers on half-day, full-day and event tours to reconnect with nature and enjoy photography. They meet for regular two-hour walks. Visit www.countyoutings.com for details.
