Without Rule of Law: The end of the world as Girl Guides know it

Creepy, witty, morbid and heartwarming, Without Rule of Law is “Part Judy Blume, part Rambo… a darkly comic coming-of-age story for complicated times,” being brought to the Mt. Tabor Playhouse stage in Milford April 26-28.
This production by Georgia Papanicolaou’s Shatterbox Theatre features an all-female cast and crew from the County and surrounding areas.
“It only seems fitting to have an awesome team of young women for this show,” said director Fiona Dodsworth. It’s a story by women, about women, and for women… And for anyone feeling scared about the future, or about the prospect of growing up. It’s for anyone who believes in the possibility of a better world, and those who create a better world for themselves.”
This staged reading stars Shatterbox alums Bella Auciello, Paige Myers, Perse Howard, and Nova Lichti – familiar faces from 2023 season’s The Crucible – alongside Mia Givogue in her Shatterbox debut.
Written by Canadian playwright Michaela Jeffery, Without Rule of Law is a contemporary feminist tale about girlhood and the uncertainty of growing up in a world that rejects you.
Sarah, Jo, and Maureen are your average eighth-grade girls: it’s all about school, Girl Guides and… the apocalypse?
But everything changes for the girls when they investigate the unsolved mystery of a local vanishing. With the help of their friend Robbie and out-of-towner Vic, the girls track the disappearance of the Shelton Commune, leading them into the hidden lair of a creepy local legend.
But what the group discovers is there might be more than they bargained for. As the team scavenges for clues, they talk about fending for themselves in a post-collapse society, and
wonder whether those in charge are really looking out for their best interests.
You can experience Without Rule of Law at Mt. Tabor Playhouse, with four shows running April 26th to 28th.
