Work continues to upgrade two County water towers

The municipality is upgrading elevated water towers in Consecon and Bloomfield. The project includes the over-coating of the exterior and interior of the water tanks.
Construction was to be finished at the Consecon tower by June 1 with the contractor then moving operations to the Bloomfield tower until July 22.
Council last summer was asked to top up funds from reserves to complete the upgrades as all tenders submitted in July were over budget.
Jacques Daoust Coatings Management was to be awarded the $559,200 contract and the increase of $30,909 over budget was to be approved from the Water Capital Reserve fund.
In 2016, Landmark Municipal Services completed an inspection of the coating and lining of the two towers, ladders and tank components and identified repairs and upgrades as urgent, strongly recommended, or other. Municipal staff noted they would put forward a budget request in 2021 to address any lower priority concerns not met in this budget.
The municipality is continuing on with the critical infrastructure project as permitted under the province of Ontario’s essential workplaces provision in response to COVID-19.
