The Bloomfield Town Hall was buzzing Saturday with the instruction and construction of gardening cold frames. Permaculturist David Riley explained cold frames are useful to start and raise seedlings early, protect tender plants well into fall and even to grow food during the winter months. The design of these cold frames featured a plywood base and salvaged conventional wooden storm window top. The event was hosted by Transition Prince Edward County. Above, Riley examines Tanya Huff’s construction before the hinges are placed.
