Award-winning Trails combine pleasures

An unique bilingual "flip book" that combines Prince Edward County's Arts Trail and Taste Trail was officially launched at the beautiful Mad Dog Gallery on East Lake Road with artists, culinary masters and officials in attendance. Artist Tara Wilkinson, of Moontide Studio Gallery, represented the Arts Trail participants noting the importance of community support to promote art work that nourishes the soul. Brad Lynd, of the Bean Counter Cafe, also cheered the great partnership of art and food. Above, Tara and Brad flank Taste The County's Grace Nyman and Kathleen Kennedy, to make a toast to the combined trail with a delicious homemade gelato Lynd created using a wine from By Chadsey's Cairns Winery, owned by Vida Zalnieriunas and Richard Johnston. Taste the County showcases Prince Edward’s finest arts and food in an unique bilingual “flip book” highlighting both the Arts Trail and Taste Trail. (Click for more)
Taste Executive Director Kathleen Kennedy notes the book features 58 of the County’s fine craft and art studios, galleries, wineries, a brewery, a cidery, cafes, restaurants and a “green” cheesemaker.
“They’re all located on two award-winning trails that wind their way through 200 kilometres of beautiful Prince Edward County countryside,” she says. “Art lovers often love food and drink, and vice-versa, so happy trail followers often carried two guidebooks as they explored the County’s art and culinary spots. This year, the Arts Trail and Taste Trail converged in a clever little “flip book” that profiles each business, shows examples of their work or produce and indicates their location on a map.”
The book, created by Rene Dick, of Scout Design, also features stunning black and white photography of Graham Davies, The Bald Photographer.
Many of the featured businesses will welcome visitors with demonstrations and open houses May 22-24. Visit www.artstrail.ca for details.
