100 People Who Care Prince Edward County supported the Wellington and District Storehouse Foodbank in this quarter’s giving.
The group is based on the simple concept of bringing together a group of 100+ people who commit to meet four times per year, contribute $100 at each meeting, and make a huge impact on a local charity.
The Wellington and District Storehouse Foodbank collects food for more than 370 people in need each month in Wellington and surrounding areas, from Bloomfield to Ameliasburgh, Consecon and Carrying Place. Programs and services also include emergency food hampers, and support for other programs in the community including Alternatives for Women and the Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association.
Clients include seniors dealing with isolation, or living on a fixed income, and families with children. The Storehouse is run entirely by volunteers. Donations can be made at the 304 Niles St., Wellington location, or at Pierson’s Foodland, 276 Main St., Wellington.
Most needed items include fresh food, toilet paper, dish soap, paper towels, feminine products, Depends, cleaning supplies, laundry soap, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, face soap, deodorant, razors, baggies and cling wrap.
The 100 People Who Care group welcomes members. The group first formed in 2015, and has since injected more than $40,000 each year into the PEC community. Visit the website to learn more
