8th Parsons County Cup raises fun and funds

Competitive men’s and women’s hockey and a sports silent auction last weekend raised $5,329 in support of programming at the Prince Edward Learning Centre.
Parsons Brewing Company hosted the 8th Annual County Cup Hockey Tournament – a free family event and fundraiser. Over the eight years, this event has raised more than $30,000.
Four men’s and four women’s teams competed for bragging rights over three days at the Picton arena March 6-8.
In the men’s finals Sunday, Acoustic Grill beat Parsons Brewing 5-2.
In the women’s finals, the County Crushers beat the Picton Blue 2-1.
Among the volunteers on site, John Sanders ran the scoreboard and clock all weekend, and Jerri-Lynne Ostroskie provided music.
The winners of the kids’ colouring contest are: 10-year-old Mason, for a rendition of the PEC Kings, and three-year-old Willow, who did an excellent job colouring inside the lines!
The event was also supported by several local sponsors. The
Prince Edward Learning Centre supports individuals in the County to reach learning goals by providing programs that increase literacy and essential skills and offer educational and employment upgrading and training.
