Ameliasburgh residents could lose water while repairs under way at treatment plant

The Water and Wastewater department will be conducting additional emergency work following the planned maintenance at the Ameliasburgh Water Treatment Plant during the early morning hours of Thursday, March 19.
Emergency follow-up work in the water treatment plant is to take place between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. The work follows preventative maintenance conducted overnight on March 17.
Maintenance is not expected to impact water quality, however, residences connected to the Ameliasburgh Drinking Water System may experience a complete loss of water service throughout the duration of the work and coloured water may be experienced once water service is restored.
Customers may wish to prepare for the service disruption by bottling and storing tap water for drinking and food preparation, and storing some water in a bathtub or large vessel for sanitary disposal and cleaning purposes.
A pitcher of water can be poured into the toilet tank to allow for sanitary disposal.
If coloured water is experienced once water service is restored, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter once maintenance is complete.
