Angels among us in a race against time

With Christmas just a few sleeps away, the CAS Angel Campaign elves are in a race against time to assist Prince Edward County families in need before deliveries are made Dec. 21.
The Angel office, located this year in the Sobeys plaza, helps families in need by providing food, toiletries, clothing and toys. Head Angel Susan Rose notes weekly meetings are held with other organizations who assist at this time of year to avoid  duplication of services. The Angel Campaign, Salvation Army, OPP Snowsuit drive and food bank work closely and compare notes so they do not overlap services. The Angel Campaign is assisting 317 angels and their families this year.
“We are most in need of food donations this year,” Rose said, noting the Angel Campaign’s deliveries are the last to be made (Dec. 21) of all the County’s groups who provide assistance.
With a poor economy comes a greater community need to put smiles on many faces and a good meal on the table.

“It is amazing how the County folk pull together and help each other,” said Rose. “I’m proud to be one of those folks.”
