Walleye, pike, big prizes and a whole lot of family fun lured thousands of anglers to enter the annual Kiwanis Walleye Weekend fishing derby.
This is the 31st year for the derby, one of North America’s largest fresh water sports fishing weekends. The Kiwanis Club fishing weekend has raised more than $800,000 for the club’s various community projects.
The Kiwanis offered up more than $250,000 worth of prizes – everything from boats and motors to fishing trips, gear and tackle.
Bart Kuiken’s 14.2 pound catch won the senior pike first prize of a Lund WC 14 boat and a 15hp Mercury Motor.
Don Moulton’s 12.08 pound walleye won a 16 ft. Lund Fury Tiller, 25hp Mercury 4 stroke motor, trailer, bow mount trolling motor and fish finder package.
