The Prince Edward County Schools Accommodation Review application process for representatives is now open and the first public meeting set.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is conducting an accommodation review of County schools including CML Snider, Kente, Pinecrest, Queen Elizabeth, Sophiasburgh and PECI.
Municipal, business and community members are invited to apply in writing to join the Accommodation Review Committee (ARC). Each school affected will have representation. Individuals are to be selected based on their qualifications, knowledge of issues related to public education, of the community and of the municipal, business and community involvement.
The ARC will consist of the school principal or designate, one teacher and one non-teaching staff member, three parents, one of whom is the school council chair, or designate; two municipal/business/community members and one intermediate or secondary student (Grade 7-12). The school employees, students and school council reps will be selected through a school-based process.
Letters must be received by Thursday, Dec. 22. Those selected are to be notified by Monday, Jan. 9. The orientation meeting is set for Jan. 25, 2017.
The first public meeting, set for Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at PECI, is slated to provide an overview of the orientation meeting, review the initial report from the school board with the recommended options and be provided with the School Information Profiles to better understand the context surrounding the review.
