Attempt murder charges have been laid against a Manitoba man wanted by RCMP in Winnipeg on murder charges who was located in Prince Edward County late last week.
Prince Edward County OPP officers were met with gun fire while attempting to enter the Massassauga Road residence to execute a warrant.
Eric Wildman was arrested by police after the warrant at the home was executed last Thursday by Prince Edward OPP, the Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine.
As a result of further evidence searching at the residence, a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol and ballistic evidence was recovered from the scene, along with a quantity of ammunition from the vehicle the accused had been operating.
The suspect remains in the custody of Manitoba Correctional Services and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg court on Wednesday, June 23.
Once the arrest warrant is executed, the courts in both provinces are to work together to determine the most efficient manner in managing the multi-jurisdictional nature of the charges.
He faces charges of attempted murder, attempted murder of an OPP officer and possessing a restricted firearm without a licence.
With the assistance of crisis negotiators, two individuals had surrendered to police. The OPP report today notes Wildman is the only individual the OPP intend to charge in relation to this incident.
