UPDATE: Monday, June 8 – The ‘Boil Water’ advisory has been lifted.
A ‘Boil Water’ advisory is in effect for residents of the Ameliasburgh drinking water system.
As of Thursday July 4, the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory in response to an adverse bacteriological water sample test result in the distribution system.
Customers in the affected area are advised to bring water to a rapid rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes (e.g. drinking, making infant formula / juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice).
The advisory will remain in place until sample results confirm the water
is safe for use and notification from the Health Unit is provided. When the Boil Water Advisory is lifted, notification will be hand delivered to affected customers, posted on the County website and sent to local media outlets.
