Brownies put through bicycle safety paces

The 1st Demorestville Brownies welcomed community policing officer Kim Guthrie, of the Prince Edward OPP, to talk about bicycle safety.  Brown Owl Jennifer Wilson and Tawny Owl Darlene Gould organized the session to help the brownies
learn about operating their bicycles safely.  Proper helmet fittings, hand signals and safe riding rules were discussed.  Each brownie was put through the paces on a “mock street and intersection” where they had to negotiate bicycles through an intersection controlled by a stop sign. Each brownie had to signal their intention to stop and then demonstrate the proper hand signal to make a left or right hand turn.  Brownies at the event included Mikayla, Emma, Ava, Mia, Jolie and in the back row – Jennifer Wilson and former brownie Courtney who offered a helping hand.
