Business associations launch expanded PEC Welcome Guide

At Tuesday’s launch of the 2017 PEC Visitor Guide were Barbara Vaughan (Vaughan Group), Janet Battaglio (Consecon Business Association), Daniel Vaughan (Vaughan Group), Robyn Molyneaux (Picton BIA); Bac: Neil Carbone (Director of Community Development), Patricia McDermott (Bloomfield Area Business Association), Grace Nyman (Community Development Coordinator).

Four businesses associations unveiled an expanded third annual Prince Edward County Welcome Guide Tuesday morning.

The Bloomfield Area Business Association (BABA), Picton Business Improvement Association, Wellington & District Business Association and Consecon Business Association worked together with the County’s Community Development Department to produce a larger, Prince Edward County Welcome Guide.

The guide, intended for visitors, provides a description of each community, a directory of member businesses within each association and maps.

“Last year Consecon joined the guide with six businesses,” said Janet Battaglio, Consecon Business Association representative. “Expanding our reach to include the greater Consecon area this year, gave 16 businesses the opportunity to showcase Consecon and area as a must-see destination.”

Patricia McDermott, Chair of the Bloomfield Area Business Association calls the combined guide a win for all.

“By combining forces and resources with the other associations, we are able to produce 20,000 guides for distribution in the County, through events, businesses and tourism centres.”

“All four associations agree that our main goal is to provide easy access to information for those visiting Prince Edward County,” said Evan Nash, Chair of the Wellington & District Business Association. “Using one guide to provide information for all four communities and over 370 businesses makes it a lot easier for visitors to plan their trip.”

Grace Nyman, Community Development Coordinator said participation in the County’s new visitor services program for 2017 will enable prominent display of the Welcome Guides at visitor information ‘hot spots’.

“This combined guide captures the individuality of each community, while incorporating the County brand,” said Judith Burfoot, Office Administrator of the Picton BIA. “To achieve this, each the business associations provided photos and editorial for their own sections, the municipality coordinated the project and the designers, Vaughan Group, ensured that the overall look and feel of the guide reflected the County brand. It’s a real partnership.”

The County’s Director of Community Development, Neil Carbone was pleased to see an increasing number of businesses participating and a new distribution plan to ensure the guide gets into the visitors’ hands.
