Mayor Peter Mertens reported to council Tuesday night the search for a new chief administrative officer is proceeding well.
In his verbal report to council, Mertens stated the committee established to search for a replacement to CAO Richard Shannon had met with the consultants in Picton March 25. At that meeting, the posting of the position was discussed along with the profile, competencies and timeline for the procedure.
“The posting was approved and it closes April 18,” Mertens said. “As of this morning (April 12), 20 applications have been received.”
The applicants will be reviewed by the committee after April 18 and refined to a list of finalists, Mertens explained. The committee will then meet with the finalists in the first week in May, when the number of applicants will be narrowed to a final three.
“At that time, reference checks will be done then a recommendation will be brought to council,” Mertens said.
