CHEERS! County employees feed food bank

The Picton United Church County Food bank was the recipient of 1,125 pounds of groceries, donated last week by employees of the County of Prince Edward.
Giant blue boxes for donations were placed in Shire Hall, the Fire Department, the Edward Building, Recreation Parks and Culture Building, the McFarland Home for the Aged, Water and Wastewater Department and Roads Building. The friendly competition between departments resulted in the Edward Building, with staff from Public Works, Planning, Building, By-law Enforcement and Economic Development collecting the most groceries with a total weight of 399 pounds. Council recognized the achievement at its Committee of the Whole meeting Jan. 13.
“As public servants, our staff have a strong connection and commitment to our residents and are sensitive to the needs of the community,” said Chief Administrative Officer, Richard Shannon. “Thank you to CUPE staff for this initiating this worthwhile project.”
Special thanks to Tim Beatty and family for the donation of the scales to weigh the food.
