Choir raises golden voices for Picton hospital

Sweet melodic sounds of Wellington’s Golden Voices choir raised $500 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation. The 45-member choir is led by director Laura Demers. Since its inception in 2000, the choir has given 14 performances and raised funds for numerous causes in the County through their yearly concert and arts and craft sale. This donation will be directed toward the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment requested by the medical staff at PECMH.
“Continued support from groups, like the Golden Voices and individuals is vital as the government does not provide funds to purchase priority medical equipment,” said Hazel Lloyst interim director of development for the foundation. “Our job is to support the medical staff at PECMH by raising donations to pay for the equipment and facilities needed to provide a range of health care services to County residents.”

Choir member Mervyn Hicks and director Laura Demers presented Hazel Lloyst, interim director of development with the PECMH Foundation with the funds raised on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Wellington on the Lake general meeting.
