Clic exhibit celebrates photography as an art form

Nine photographers were honoured for their images at this year’s CLIC Eastern Ontario Photo Show and Sale among 123 images featured for viewers over the past week.
The show’s jurors, photographers John DeVisser and Phil Norton, and gallery curator Susan Holland reviewed more than 335 images entered, choosing 123 images by 76 photographers for the show.
“The quality of the images this year is astounding”, said juror, Phil Norton. “This photography show is a real testament to the craft, and I am thrilled to see an exhibition of this calibre growing and thriving in Eastern Ontario,” he added.
The Best in show and the Doug Boult Award for Excellence in photographer was presented to Scott Hall, of Ottawa, for “Damsel Fly”.
Awards were also presented to:
Adult division, colour category:
Terry Carpenter, of Peterborough earned first place for “Pontederia Reflection”, and second place for “The Last Tune”. Third place was awarded to Marlene Gray, of Shannonville, for “Majestic”.
Adult division, black and white category:
First place Sean Scally, of Quinte West, for “Iceman”. Second place to Jim Vance, of Kingston, for “Istanbul Street Music” and third place went to Moira Law, of Kemptville, for “Twixt March & Sky”.
In the student category, Lana Missen, of Cobourg, won first place for “Sea Jewel”. Noah Redka, of Rossmore earned second place for “Empty Bay Bridge”, and third place went to Kurtis Chen, of Kingston, for “Ice Crystal”.
The jurors also awarded Honourable Mentions in the Adult division, colour category to: Larry Keeley of Port Hope, for his image “Solitude”; Louise Shane of Almonte, for her image “Gordon Setter” and Paul Wash of Sydenham, for his image “Expires Nov. 1, 1944”.
Honourable Mentions in the Adult division, black and white category were awarded to Stuart Morley of Cobourg, for his image “View From The Ice”; Darlene Shantz of Milford, for her image “Wild Water Wellington”; and Jane Rutter, of Bloomfield, for her image “Boardwalk”.
Presented by the Prince Edward County Arts Council, the Eastern Ontario Photo Show was established in 2010 to celebrate photography as an art form and the creative vision of photographers from across Eastern Ontario.
