The Alzheimer Society of Prince Edward County CHEERS the community for its support at recent fundraising events.
“Our services are dependent on fundraising and donations,” said Melanie Payne, of the PEC office. “The gift of time from our volunteers and the generosity of our community makes services and supports available to persons in Prince Edward County with Alzheimer disease or dementia and their caregivers. These fundraising events were by the community for our community.”
The Krispy Kreme Donut sales day Sept. 18 raised about $2,500.
“The early morning volunteers experienced some frightful weather but as the weather improved – so did sales. CHEERS to all our volunteers and to the businesses that allowed us to set-up on their property – Giant Tiger, Metro, County Farm Supply, Home Hardware, Pierson’s Foodland and Gilmour’s Meat Shop and Deli.
The following Saturday, participants enjoyed while learning at the “A Changing Melody” event.
“We gained insight into the thoughts, experiences and the changing music of persons with dementia and their care givers. We laughed with Jack and exercised with Tabitha and local service information was shared.”
In August, The Eva Monroe Memorial Golf Tournament Fore! The Memories, helped raise more than $4,500 to support the people in Prince Edward County living with Alzheimer disease or dementia and their caregivers.
