Construction at the Mary Street parking lot begins Oct. 26 as Wemp and Smith Construction begin replacing the retaining wall along the east side Tuesday, Oct. 26. The work is to take place between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday and is expected to continue until early December.
A portion of the parking lot will be closed for the duration of the project.
Free parking is available in the municipal lot at 55 King Street in Picton. Pay and Display parking is available in Market Lane for $0.50 per hour.
County staff will continue work on a watermain service connection at 289 Picton Main Street (Books and Company) on Thursday Oct. 28 between approximately 4pm and midnight.
Main Street will remain open; however, lane detours may be in place.
Water will be disconnected between 8 pm and midnight to customers at 280, 290, 297, 299, and 289 Main Street. Affected customers have been notified directly.
The sidewalk in front of 289 Picton Main Street will be closed for the duration of the work. Street parking spaces along the frontage of 289 Picton Main Street will not be available. Parking spaces in front of 280 Picton Main Street (The Edward Building) may also be impacted due to required traffic control.
The installation is not expected to impact water quality; however, residents and businesses in the area may experience air in their plumbing and/or coloured water due to vibrations from construction.
If coloured water is experienced, customers are encouraged to flush their water lines at the cold water tap nearest to the water meter until clarity is restored.
