Council conspicuously quiet on QHC: letter

It appears that in spite of many protests, Quinte Health Care has now taken 3 beds from the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and County Council was conspicuously quiet in the arguments against this move.
I believe that part of each year’s budget is a health amount of our taxes, donated willingly to Quinte Health Care and in return we are forced to bow and scrape to the whims of the Belleville Hospital and its demands.
Quinte Healthcare has reduced the Bancroft Hospital to a First Aid Station and reduced services in Trenton and Picton while the Belleville Hospital expands and builds.
It is about time that County Council plays hardball with QHC in Belleville and advises them that our taxes will no longer be donated to satisfy their wants.
The people of Prince Edward are entitled to have a say in decisions that affect our hospital. As I have stated before, we should not be amalgamated with Belleville but should stand alone as an independent rural hospital. Then we would have a say about what is done with our tax dollars. I would like to see a response from the mayor and county council as to why they did not take any action on this matter.
The McGinty Liberals and Leona Dombrowsky must be sent a message in October that their treatment of our health issues is not acceptable.
