Council to review infrastructure funding

At Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, council will review a report to endorse applying for community infrastructure improvement funding.
The request states the funding would be used for one or more of the following projects in order of preference:
1) Crystal Palace Repair,
2) Millenium Trail – Bridge Repair project),
3) Wellington Main Street Park – Seawall Rehabilitation,
4) Wellington Main Street Park – Seawall Replacement).
The County confirms that if successful in obtaining the requested funding it would contribute its share of the required funding for the project using funds from the sale of surplus property.
Council will also review a letter from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Transportation regarding Reallocation of Connecting Link Funds from 2011 allocation toward the Stormwater Management Project, Hwy. 33, Bloomfield.
The letter proposes:
“THAT a maximum of $102,550 will be allocated by the Ministry to Connecting Link Highway 33, for the specified Connecting Link capital improvements on the Bloomfield Stormwater Management Project;
THAT a final project summary report detailing expenditures, use of provincial funding, and outcomes achieved shall be attested by the Chief Administrative Officer and submitted to the Ministry upon completion of the project;
THAT the County understands that the Ministry may request an independent audit of the project;
THAT any funds intended for this project that are not used in accordance with Ministry Connecting Link guidelines or the terms outlined above will be returned to the Ministry; and
THAT funds not expended by September 30, 2013 will be returned to the Province.”
