Councillors Steve Ferguson and Bill Roberts are seeking a motion of support, at Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, related to the issuance of a Notice to Proceed to wpd Canada for its White Pines industrial turbines in the wards of South Marysburgh and Athol.

The motion states the municipality wants to be kept informed of results of any investigation as to how and on what grounds the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) decision to issue the Notice to Proceed was made.

The County has been advised by Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith’s office that the IESO has apparently issued a Notice to Proceed to wpd Canada for its industrial wind turbine project in the wards of South Marysburgh and Athol on May 11, 2018.

The circumstances surrounding the issuance of the notice to proceed have been questioned by Smith.

Meanwhile, wpd Canada was in court last week facing three charges related to infractions.

The charges are believed to have stemmed from complaints by local residents.

The case has been put over to Oct. 5.

Well as anyone knows, I am not in the role of protecting any member of council – including the mayor. However, to be fair to the guy, he has come out publicly opposing IWTs, on a number of occasions. Even during the provincial campaign, he remained opposed to them. What confused the matter (and me too) was his running for the Liberals. But if it helps anyone feel any better, having Todd Smith and the Ford Tories hasn’t proven to be beneficial either – at least not yet. As I stated in a prior posting – the voters of PEC have been taken advantage of and misled by every cut of politician – now we are into a municipal campaign period. Man, here we go again!

Todd Smith just made some announcements, have a listen at the 5 minute mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=gHB8FLgXFec&app=desktop

We all know that these windmills are a bad idea. Makes you wonder how many little brown envelopes are being passed out in order for them to proceed. I thought our glorious mayor was against these windmills.

  4. Dennis Fox says:

From the size of council to defending this community from IWTs it is becoming a very boring ad harmful game to watch – the public want to believe their representatives and yet they always let us down.

I would much rather see a motion that would see council stand up and demand answers and until they get them, to demand that all work STOP – with the real outcome of huge fines against wpd. Plus to call a press conference, just like John Tory and Ford have done over the cost from refugees – PEC should be demanding compensation from the new Provincial Gov’t – they too made promises to stop the IWTs. SO???

  5. Susan says:

Well, where is our Mayor on this? Formerly he was death against this development. Something change?

  6. Fred says:

So before they start swinging and the constant swish, swish and cattle miscarriages, eggs without shells, humans without sleep, where are the new government leaders who were fending this off?

  7. Dennis Fox says:

This idea of a motion from council to be kept informed is not a bad idea, despite it being a little late in coming. Frankly, I am tired of seeing this issue being used as way for many to get elected – and yet not one of them have kept their word. You can tell a municipal election is just around the corner.
