Planning for a week-long PECelebrate Festival is under way to feature a variety of community activities beginning June 25 and culminating July 1 with Canada Day festivities.
Events throughout the week will also honour Indigenous Peoples Day, Multiculturalism Day and St. Jean Baptiste Day.
“We have been through some challenging times over the past two years, but the County spirit remains strong. I look forward to us coming together as a community to celebrate and mark the start of summer. A lot of great activities are planned, and I am sure the community festival will have something for everyone,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson.
Events open with ‘Revel’ Saturday, June 25 from noon to 9 pm at Macaulay Heritage Park, celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day and Multiculturalism Day with musical and dance performances, informative talks at Macaulay Church that explore Indigenous culture and heritage, children’s programming throughout the day and food from around the world. ‘Revel’ will be free of charge thanks to financial support of the government of Canada.
Events across the County are to culminate with Canada Day celebrations at the Picton Fairgrounds on July 1 with activities for children, a barbeque, and other activities.
The full schedule for PECelebrate Festival, including details about Canada Day, are to be announced in early June. Businesses, organizations and groups interested in participating in PECelebrate are encouraged to contact Julianne Snepsts, Programs Supervisor, at 613.476.2148 extension 1008 or email jsnepsts@pecounty.on.ca.
