UPDATE: Beach closed.
Sandbanks Provincial Park expects its day use will be at capacity and closed early Saturday, as the park shared a photograph (above) of the lineup at 8 a.m., noting traffic is backed up on the County roads leading into the park. It also makes mention in its ‘tweet’ that when the park is at capacity, no day-use permits are able to enter, including seasonal pass holders.

I have seen NY licence plates on cars. I have also seen Quebec licence plates on trailers being pulled by NY licence plates. I’m tired of cleaning garbage off my lawn from passersby. I’m sick and tired of paying taxes for something I cannot ever reasonably enjoy, and now, on top of all this, I see a complete lack of social distancing. Seems nobody cares. People come here and the rules are not enforced.
The situation now is ridiculous. County people played by the rules and we kept safe. Now we have hordes of tourists many from COVID-19 hot spots flooding the county. They flout the rules and wander in large groups down our streets. The beaches never should have been opened. County people need to take back the county.
The county should not have opened the beaches etc to the public
Look what has happened in Florida when the beaches opened
We were pretty virus free this spring but the fall will be a different story
Come on people let’s use some sense
What a terrible shame that our home and community isn’t ours anymore. I’ve never seen more tourists in the twenty five years we’ve lived here and now feel so angry about it! Not just sad anymore. Seems everybody who has EVER visited here is now here all at once. The end of September can’t come soon enough for me. TOURISTS GO HOME!
Summer’s here and apparently Covid19 is over (for now). Thank you Doug Ford for Phase 3. Thank you PEC for taking this opportunity to open the flood gates and for compromising our community’s health and well being. See you all at the Covid tent.
