County seeks public input on 2022 budgets

The County of Prince Edward seeks input from residents as it prepares its 2022 budgets.

“We are taking a new approach this year with the budget by welcoming more people into the conversation,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson. “We want to raise awareness about the budgeting process, and we look forward to getting your feedback along the way.”

There are various ways to participate:
Fill out the online survey by clicking here.
– Hard copies are available for pick-up at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) and Prince Edward County Public Library branches. The survey will close on Friday, Oct. 8.

– Residents are invited to read background information on the municipality’s ‘Have Your Say budget engagement’ page by clicking here . People can share ideas or questions, get answers to frequently asked questions, find links to the 2021 budget documents and fill out the online survey.

– A virtual information session is planned for Monday, Sept. 27 from 5:30-6:30 pm. The session will stream live on the County’s YouTube channel. It will also be recorded and available for viewing anytime. Questions can be sent in advance to communications@pecounty.on.ca and staff will answer them during the session.

Results of the public consultation are to be shared with residents in October.

Council will consider the proposed capital budget Dec. 8-10, 2021 and the proposed operating budget Feb. 2-4, 2022. Those meetings are also to be streamed on the County’s YouTube channel.
