County services and council returning to Shire Hall

The County of Prince Edward expects to resume delivering services at Shire Hall beginning Tuesday, April 18.

The County temporarily relocated some services to the ground floor of the Edward Building during the Shire Hall renovation project where accessibility improvements were being made. Changes to physical spaces and upgrades to technology are expected to reduce barriers for people accessing services and engaging with council at Shire Hall.

The first Council meeting inside the newly renovated chambers at Shire Hall is set for Tuesday, April 25. Advisory committee meetings are to continue to meet virtually as stated in the County’s procedural bylaw. Live stream and recordings of council, committee of the whole, planning and development, and advisory committee meetings are available on the County’s YouTube channel.

Services moving back to Shire Hall from The Edward Building include tax and utility bills, payments of fines for provincial offences, violations of municipal bylaws and minor federal offences; customer service and purchasing garbage bag tags .

To assist with the move back, there will be revised hours of operation including closure at the Edward Building Friday, April 14 at noon to prepare for the move over the weekend. Shire services will be closed Monday, April 17 while offices set up.

The offices of the mayor, CAO and clerk are expected to return to Shire Hall Monday, April 24. Clerk’s Office services — marriage licences, commissioner of oath, liquour and lottery licensing services — will continue to be offered by appointment. Contact clerks@pecounty.on.ca or call 613.476.2148 extension 1020 to make an appointment.
