Holiday memories on a sleigh-ride

Rachel and Matthew Gilbert meet Brian and Gloria Flake's horses, downtown Picton.

Mrs. Claus and Frosty the Snowman greeted Picton shoppers and invited them to take a free horse-drawn wagon ride through town.

Cassidy Allison served up free hot chocolate from the Bean Counter Cafe.

The snow fell in southern Prince Edward County Thursday, but Picton Main Street was clear and dry as BIA and merchants of downtown Picton hosted free horse-drawn wagon rides, free hot chocolate, courtesy of the Bean Counter Cafe, and carolling from Emmanuel Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m. Many of Picton’s fine shops and services extended their regular business hours to meet holiday shopping needs.

Hear the clippity-clop…
