CRTC approves County radio license

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has approved 99.3 County FM’s application to operate a community radio station covering Prince Edward County.

“This is the news we’ve all been waiting for,” said Treat Hull, 99.3 chair. “Up until now, it’s been all about planning for the station. With our license approved, now it’s time to get down to work.”

“Fund raising is critical, but we have held off raising money until we got the license. Now that we’re approved, we will be kicking off our fund raising in the next weeks with the goal to be in full swing by March. We will also start looking for volunteers right away and anyone who’s interested in getting involved in any way is invited to contact us.”

The station is planning to get on the air during 2014, preferably by September.

The annual general meeting for the public and the 300 public members is set for Wednesday, January 22nd from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Picton Town Hall.
