Prince Edward County doctors were photographed with representatives from the Prince Edward Cattlemen’s Association with a cheque for $10,300. As part of the Cattlemen’s 10th anniversary fundraising campaign for the Prince Edward Family Health Team’s new Cardiac Rehabilitation program, 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of one steer at the Steer Show (affectionately named Syd) would go to the fund. The funds will buy necessary exercise equipment not covered by funding. PEFHT physicians joined forces to bid on Syd. Dr. Cliff Rice and Dr. Steve Blanchard bid against each other to hit the final figure with the winning bid made by Dr. Blanchard. Dr. John Hancock, local veterinarian and Steer Show co-chair said anniversary events this year were designed to promote the Cattlemen and the whole agricultural community as active partners in ensuring strong and vibrant health care services are available in the community. Events included a beef dinner and dance in July, and a gala dinner with wine pairings and a charity auction in August and proceeds from the steer show at the Picton Fair. Connie Forrester photo
