You could give somebody the dollhouse of their dreams – complete with furnishings, a family – and some kittens, if you wish.

After many hours, over several months, of painting, gluing, assembling and wallpapering, Joanne Fralick, husband Martin and son Robbie presented a finished dollhouse to the Loyalist Humane Society to be used to raise funds. At the presentation, a number of the society’s kittens toured the two-storey home and proclaimed their approval.

An unfinished 1:12 scale dollhouse kit was donated to Fralick by Frugal and Company.

“The dollhouse was a family project,” said Fralick, “Just like looking after our pets.”

The family has four cats, one a medical rescue from the LHS.

“We were thrilled to be able to save Sprout’s life. He weighed a pound and was given a day to live last Thanksgiving Monday. Now he is 10 months old and weighs over 10 pounds – a happy, healthy cat,” she said.
The Fralicks also recently rescued a dog being used to bait pit bulls for dog fighting in Belize.

“The Loyalist Humane Society always needs help to continue saving animals,” said Fralick. “The dollhouse project is a small way our family can help them fundraise for all their good work.”

The two-story dollhouse comes complete with furniture for all rooms and a doll family. Total value of the finished project with accessories is between $400 and $500.

The LHS plans to raffle off the dollhouse as a Christmas project. Tickets should go on sale on or before Picton Fair weekend in September.
