Thirteen Quinte Dolphins competed among about 460 swimmers from across Ontario at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre on the weekend.

McKinley Miller, a Grade 2 student at Pinecrest, placed in four of his six events and earned a bronze medal in the 200 backstroke dropping 36.72 seconds from his previous best time.

Annika Hudgin, a Grade 4 student at Sonrise Christian Academy, earned ribbons in both the 50 metre and 200 metre backstroke placing 5th and 8th respectively.  Hudgin also achieved qualifying times for EOSA championships in the 100 & 200 metre backstroke this weekend.

Morgan Clark, a Grade 9 student at PECI, placed in all six of her events, collecting three  silver medals in the 50 and 100 metre freestyle events and in the 200 meter butterfly.  She also won the  bronze in 200 metre freestyle.  Clark met her EOSA qualifying time in the 200 metre butterfly although she had already qualified for this meet earlier in the year.

Kelli-Anne Maycock, a Grade 8 student at St. Gregory, achieved her EOSA qualifying time in the 100 metre freestyle, the second of three times she requires for entry into the EOSA championships later this month.

Maycock, Elsbury, Taylor and Clark, formed the team for the 13 and over 4 x 100 freestyle relay and won fourth place in the team event.

It was a great weekend for all who participated in the weekend event in Belleville! I was glad that I had a front row seat on the deck as a timer and could see the focus and determination on each of the swimmers faces. Congratulation on a great job done by ALL the Dolphins who participated!!!!

This is an amazing article. All of these Dolphin swimmers should hold there heads up high as they all did an amazing job at this swim meet. Yes I am a parent of not only one of these swimmers mentioned but 2 (faith Elsbury/McKinley Miller). They put a lot of time and training into there swimming and it shows.. Not only at the swim meets but at practice as well. Jim Anfield is an amazing swim coach and I am happy that my children have had the chance to have him as a coach.. He is so good with all of the children that come into this swim program, whether it be for competitive or just to swim. I truly hope that my children continue on with this Dolphins Swim Program as it is challenging, yet fun and a great way to make new friends.
