Donations make Christmas brighter for County children

The holidays just got a lot brighter for local children and their families thanks to a $1,075 donation from Prince Edward County Chamber of Tourism and Commerce members.
Chamber members have shared their Christmas spirit with the Children’s Aid Society Christmas Angel Tree Campaign over the past 10 years. Chamber members gathered for their annual Christmas “meet and greet” held a gift auction with proceeds going to the angel tree. While the gifts were beautifully wrapped, the contents were unknown to the bidders who raised $1075 during the auction.

Angel tree program co-ordinator, Susan Rose says financial donations provide Christmas cheer to County young people and their families in the form of gifts and food baskets.

Speaking on behalf of County Children’s Aid Society, executive director Mark Kartusch recognized the generosity of the hundreds of individuals, organizations and businesses whose donations to the angel tree have made a difference, year after year, to the lives of many young people and their families.

“I thank the members of this community for their commitment to sharing the spirit of the holidays and for their continued support of the angel tree. Their generosity will make the holidays brighter for many who might have gone without.”

Donations to the Angel Tree can be made at 97 Main St., Unit 14 (the Sobeys Plaza) in Picton.
