Drive collects old and unused drugs

The Prince Edward OPP has joined a province-wide drive to help people dispose of old and unused prescription medicine. Prescription Drug Drop Off Day is Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the County detachment, 569 Cty Rd 1, Picton. Drop off can be made without leaving your vehicle, or, you can make a point to ask questions or receive information pamphlets from officers and a local pharmacist. Dropping off old and unused medication ensures they will be disposed of properly – thereby not contaminating water and landfill – and also removing the possibility of the drugs being stolen in break-ins. Last year, more than 330 kilograms of medications were dropped off by 730 citizens participating in the provincial drive. This year, more than 60 detachments are taking part. If you are unable to attend, unused medications can also be dropped off to your local pharmacist.
