CHEERS! to Sandra Edwards, who after 34 years at the Picton Urology Clinic, retired in December, leaving the clinic under the watchful eye of Dr. J. Wilson.
After moving to Picton in 1974, Sandra began work on a permanent, part-time basis in the Earle Taylor Emergency Department at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. During this time she also began working with a variety of doctors and interns in the hospital’s Urology Clinic, most notably with Dr. Wilson. She has often remarked how lucky the people in Prince Edward and the surrounding area are to have such a kind, knowledgeable, dedicated, and well respected doctor attending to their needs.
“After leaving a clinic, patients have always known that if they had a question, a concern, or a problem, that help was just a phone call away. Sandra has, in a sense, been a urology “help line” in Prince Edward,” laughs husband Bill. “Over the years patients have called our home seeking support or approached Sandra around town. She has responded to calls to assist urology patients in emerge and she has made house calls at all hours. Sandra set up an informal support system amongst her patients and prepared patient and nursing support materials. On more than one occasion I have heard people say ‘Well there’s my favorite nurse.’ Sandra’s caring dedication to her patients will be greatly missed. She herself will also miss the interaction with “her” patients who are in need. I know however that our telephone will continue to ring…rest assured that I also know that Sandra will be more than happy to provide all the help that she can.”
